Overview:

The Wholesale Portfolio Management Officer III is responsible for supporting the ongoing management, monitoring, and risk assessment of the Bank's commercial loan portfolio. This includes conducting periodic portfolio reviews, analyzing borrower financial performance, identifying and escalating emerging risks, supporting client relationship teams with credit-related insights, and ensuring portfolio compliance with internal credit policies and regulatory guidelines. The role requires exercising independent judgment and discretion in evaluating credit quality and portfolio trends. Officers play a critical role in maintaining the quality, compliance, and profitability of the Bank's wholesale lending portfolio.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Independently conduct regular portfolio monitoring to assess credit quality, validate risk rating accuracy, and ensure compliance with loan covenants and credit policy.

  • Analyze borrower financial statements, performance metrics, and industry conditions to identify early warning signs of credit deterioration and recommend appropriate actions.

  • Prepare comprehensive portfolio reviews and borrower risk assessments, escalating material credit issues to management based on sound judgment.

  • Independently manage complex borrower relationships and loan structures, applying advanced credit knowledge and exercising discretion with minimal supervision.

  • Utilize in-depth expertise in wholesale lending, risk evaluation, and policy compliance to support portfolio oversight and strategic credit decisions.

  • Collaborate with Relationship Managers, Underwriters, and Risk Officers to recommend risk mitigation strategies and ensure alignment with overall portfolio objectives.

  • Track and report key risk indicators (KRIs) and emerging portfolio trends to senior management, contributing to proactive risk management.

  • Mentor junior officers and analysts by providing training, guidance, and peer reviews of financial analyses and risk assessments.

  • Support internal audits and regulatory examinations by preparing and delivering accurate portfolio data, reporting, and documentation.

  • Ensure accurate, timely, and complete documentation within the Bank’s portfolio management and risk systems.

  • Adhere to all applicable credit, compliance, operational, and regulatory standards in daily responsibilities.

  • Participate in special projects, credit portfolio initiatives, and cross-functional assignments as needed.


Qualifications:
  • 8-10 years of extensive experience managing complex and high-risk wholesale portfolios.
  • Advanced knowledge of commercial lending practices, portfolio risk assessment methodologies, credit policies, and regulatory compliance requirements.

  • Proficiency in analyzing financial statements, cash flows, borrower performance metrics, and industry trends to identify portfolio risks.

  • Strong working knowledge of wholesale banking products, loan structures, and commercial lending documentation.

  • Ability to independently manage higher complexity portfolios and exercise sound credit judgment with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to recommend proactive risk mitigation strategies based on credit analysis and portfolio trends.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear, concise credit narratives, risk assessments, and portfolio reviews.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to prioritize multiple assignments and consistently meet deadlines.

  • High degree of analytical thinking, critical problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); familiarity with loan servicing systems and portfolio management platforms preferred.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with Relationship Managers, Underwriters, Credit Officers, Risk Officers, and cross-functional teams.

  • Commitment to data accuracy, reporting integrity, and maintaining high documentation standards.


Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience may be considered.
