Overview:

The Corporate Banking Specialist Senior collaborates directly with the assigned Relationship Managers (RMs), overseeing and expanding the Corporate Banking portfolio. Primary duties involve identifying and securing new Corporate Banking relationships and revenue streams. Responsibilities include fostering the retention of existing clients and supporting various tasks related to loan approval, loan closing, adherence to credit standards, and new business development. The role also includes monitoring loan status from post-approval to disbursement, providing essential support to the assigned RM, and addressing client needs promptly while ensuring continuous updates on the status to Relationship managers and clients (loan inquiries, issues, etc.).

What You'll Do:

  • Collaborate with Relationship managers to strategically manage and expand the Corporate Banking portfolio, focusing on cultivating strong, long-term client relationships.

  • Develop and implement strategies to foster the retention of existing clients, ensuring a high level of client satisfaction and loyalty.

  • Actively contribute to new business development initiatives by identifying market opportunities, monitoring industry trends, and proposing innovative solutions.

  • Supports both new and current bank clients and collaborates with internal and external contacts to resolve technical problems, service requests, and other questions pertaining to specific bank and corporate banking services.

  • Conduct in-depth financial analysis to provide decision-making support for Relationship Managers, particularly in identifying and securing new Corporate Banking relationships and revenue streams.

  • In charge of managing requests for loan servicing, including advance payments, paydowns, copies of invoices and statements, investigation of billing-related matters, insurance, escrows, flood insurance, etc.

  • Contribute to the collection, preparation and processing of loan applications, deal structuring, development, and maintenance.

Acts as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring a comprehensive understanding and knowledge of the relationship:

  • Collect, and review required documents for new loan applications, renewals, and/or modification.
  • Responsible for uploading required loan documents into DocMan within defined timeframe for loan document stage.
  • Collect and verify applicants’ information, such as income, employment history, and creditworthiness.
  • Complete customers’ profiles/CIP and Ownership Information in elevate.
  • Perform list check, OFAC & Google search and submit KYCs for RM review and attestation/approval within applicable systems.
  • Collaborates with the legal department to manage post-prescreening and approvals for engagement, facilitating effective collaboration with RMs.
  • Collaborates with loan closers, legal counsel, and other internal departments on behalf of RMs by keeping all parties informed of progress and get appropriate decision-makers involved to resolve issues.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to loan applications and approvals.
  • Collaborate with RM, PRO, and other relevant parties involved in the loan approval and closing process.
  • Collect necessary documentation from clients as indicated on the loan closing checklist, applicable to new loans, modifications and renewals.
  • Contribute to the management of the RMs Dashboard and pipeline management.
  • Creates opportunities, coordinates payoffs/releases, submissions for fee waivers.
  • Follow up to ensure loans were properly booked, all required waivers are in place, loan proceeds were properly disbursed and the required ticklers for financial statements are established.
  • Contribute to the oversight of loan portfolios, including monitoring payment schedules and addressing delinquent accounts through follow-up efforts.
  • Contribute to resolving ticklers, maturity loans, ensuring compliance with minimum deposit requirements, and addressing covenants.
  • Adhere to regulatory requirements and internal policies governing lending practices.
  • Consistently stay informed about lending products, processes, and industry regulations, ensuring compliance and delivering exceptional service to clients through ongoing updates.

Responsible for ensuring Regulatory Excellence (First Client Contact):

  • Collect missing items and other applicable items/documents relating to loan/deposit.
  • Satisfy BSA/RFI requests: completion of BSA requests within defined timeframe noted in the request; this includes (but not limited to): RFIs which includes EDD/KYC-updates, PO Alert, OFAC, High Risk Review & Other.
  • Completion of Regulatory Excellence Consultant (REC) findings requests within defined timeframe noted in the request.
  • Responsible for follow up activities related to new onboarding and maintenance requests using varies system reports.
  • Follow-up activities included but are not limited to: loan/deposit pipeline, funding, TM implementation, Post Closing items, Ticklers/ Covenants,
  • Minimum Deposit Requirements and KYC -status.
  • Escalate all unresolved issues related to the above-mentioned tasks to the RM or LOB Director.
  • Complete Reg E disputes and other items as indicated by Loan/Risk Department.

Responsible for handling and processing all client requests or inquires related to Deposit accounts including but not limited to:

  • Complete New Account Package and submit for processing to New Account request team
  • Submit Maintenance cases
  • Submit Deposit/Loan Research
  • Responsible for the proper disposition of all exception items from Deposit Operations & Non-Post database related to the clients they service.
  • Maintains strong product knowledge, complete all trainings assigned and participate on internal trainings as needed.
  • Identifies needs and cross sells bank products/services as needed and refers opportunities to other departments of the bank for lending, Treasury Management or Wealth Management.
  • Continually monitors & communicates with Relationship Managers regarding loan application status and activities, issues, loan renewals, past due, and potential opportunities (Pipeline).
  • Participates in on-site client visits and relationship reviews.
  • Some Corporate Banking Specialist Seniors may specialize on loans and some may specialize in account opening; they all must fully cross-train for backup purposes.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • 5-7 years of experience in corporate banking or financial services support role
  • Proven track record of providing high-level support to Relationship Managers.
  • Experience in actively managing loan closing/amendment/modification process with internal and external Bank partners.
  • In-depth understanding of banking products, processes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong financial analysis skills and familiarity with credit standards.
  • Must be proficient in: loan/depository systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly motivated, self-starter with the ability to meet or exceed established goals.
  • Good time management, organizational and problem- solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently to accomplish assigned projects.

Education:
  • Associate's Degree in Business Administration or related field.
  • An equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
