The role directly manages the Insurance & Escrow Supervisor and partners closely with Credit Risk, Compliance, Legal, Loan Servicing, Portfolio Management, Finance, Technology, Internal Audit, and third-party service providers. Credit Risk, Legal, Compliance, and the applicable Line of Business retain responsibility for establishing requirements, approving exceptions, and accepting risk within their respective areas of authority.

What You'll Do:

  • Serve as CNB’s senior subject matter expert on loan collateral protection, with primary expertise in loan portfolio insurance, flood insurance, lender-placed insurance, escrow servicing, and collateral protection best practices.
  • Own and manage the Bank’s loan collateral protection program, including standards, procedures, governance, monitoring, reporting, vendor oversight, issue remediation, escalation frameworks, and continuous improvement activities supporting the Bank’s secured lending portfolios.
  • Provide technical expertise across applicable coverage types, including commercial property, hazard, windstorm, flood and flood contents, builder’s risk, business interruption/income, rental loss, general liability, umbrella/excess liability, workers’ compensation, equipment, automobile, marine/cargo, aviation, assets, private mortgage insurance, lender-placed insurance, and other specialized coverage as applicable.
  • Oversee insurance requirements and broader post-closing collateral-protection monitoring across commercial, residential, consumer, SBA, aviation, construction, participation/syndication, and other secured portfolios.
  • Provide first-line oversight of force-placed and lender-placed insurance, including pre-expiration monitoring, borrower notices, placement, premium processing, active policy administration, cancellations, refunds, and remediation of duplicate or unnecessary coverage.
  • Oversee flood insurance compliance throughout the loan lifecycle, including determinations, mandatory purchase requirements, coverage amounts, private flood policy considerations, flood contents, escrow requirements, notices, force placement, zone changes, tracking, cancellations, refunds, and regulatory evidence.
  • Direct insurance and tax escrow servicing activities, including setup, disbursements, annual and interim analyses, shortages and surpluses, refunds, cancellations, payment exceptions, and applicable borrower communications.
  • Establish portfolio-level monitoring for expired, deficient, underinsured, waived, non-force-placeable, and force-placed coverage, including exposure analysis, aging, trends, concentration, root-cause analysis, KRIs/KPIs, escalation thresholds, and executive reporting.
  • Own governance of approved insurance waivers and exceptions, including inventory, supporting evidence, expiration monitoring, renewal or extension requirements, reporting, and escalation.
  • Ensure timely remediation and escalation of coverage deficiencies, collateral-document exceptions, upcoming UCC filings, processing errors, aged exceptions, vendor failures, borrower-impacting issues, regulatory exceptions, audit findings, and control gaps.
  • Partner with Compliance, Legal, Credit Risk, First Line Risk, external insurance specialists, brokers, carriers, filing and collateral-service vendors, and counsel to operationalize regulatory, insurance, and collateral-protection requirements.
  • Lead responses to regulatory examinations, compliance monitoring, internal audit, external audit, quality-assurance reviews, and management inquiries related to insurance, escrow servicing, and collateral-protection controls.
  • Develop and maintain executive reporting covering insurance exposure, force-placed inventory, expired and deficient coverage, waivers, underinsurance, Bank-funded premiums, refunds, recoveries, UCC continuation requirements, recorded-document exceptions, vendor performance, escrow exceptions, customer impact, regulatory indicators, and remediation status.
  • Sponsor automation, system, workflow, and data-quality improvements across nCino/Elevate, Core systems, Insurance Central, vendor platforms, document repositories, collateral-tracking records, dashboards, and related workflows.
  • Manage the Insurance & Escrow Supervisor and overall unit staffing, capacity, segregation of duties, succession planning, training, performance, and professional development required to support insurance, escrow, and broader collateral-protection responsibilities.
  • Own and maintain the Bank’s first-line operational collateral protection framework, including approved servicing standards, monitoring procedures, control routines, escalation criteria, reporting, issue remediation, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee post-closing operational monitoring of UCC financing statements, including continuation requirements, expiration dates, filing-status information, amendments, assignments, terminations, and exceptions.
  • Oversee operational monitoring of recorded mortgages, assignments, modifications, and other applicable real-estate collateral documents after closing.
  • Monitor collateral-document exceptions and aged outstanding items requiring remediation, escalation, Line of Business involvement, legal review, or management visibility.
  • Establish controls to identify upcoming collateral-protection events, including UCC continuation deadlines, expiring filings, unresolved recording matters, document exceptions, insurance expirations, waiver expirations, and other time-sensitive servicing requirements.
