Overview:The Salesforce Technical Architect is the senior technical authority for the Bank's Salesforce platform and is accountable for its technical architecture, code quality, and engineering practices. The role owns the platform's technical design, covering Apex, Lightning Web Components, solution architecture, and integration patterns, and contributes design input on the data model and the sharing and security model, which the Salesforce administration team owns. It translates business requirements and Enterprise Architecture standards into buildable, maintainable, well governed technical solutions. Platform scope includes Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, and Financial Services Cloud (FSC), and extends to the custom development and integration surrounding nCino for Loan Origination (LOS), which is a vendor managed package owned by the Product team. The role additionally owns Salesforce DevOps: source driven development, branching and merge strategy, automated CI/CD pipelines, static code analysis, automated testing, environment and release management, and metadata governance across sandboxes and production. It further owns the adoption and governance of AI assisted development using generative AI coding tools such as Claude Code, which is a required capability for this role.
This position combines hands on technical leadership with direct people management: it leads and develops a team of Salesforce developers, sets and enforces engineering standards, reviews and approves designs and code, and directs the technical work of vendor and contractor resources. The incumbent is accountable for the platform's technical health, scalability, performance, supportability, and compliance with the Bank's Enterprise Architecture, Information Security, and Regulatory Excellence requirements. Hands on technical depth in Salesforce Marketing Cloud is a significant advantage.
What You'll Do:
- Serves as the technical design authority for the Salesforce platform, owning end to end technical architecture across Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, and Financial Services Cloud (FSC), and ensuring all designs conform to approved Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) and Enterprise Architecture standards.
- Leads all pro code development on the platform, including Apex, Lightning Web Components, SOQL and SOSL optimization, Platform Events, asynchronous processing, and legacy Visualforce remediation, and establishes the coding standards, design patterns, and reusable frameworks that the development team builds against.
- Owns and continuously improves Salesforce DevOps practices, including source driven development with Salesforce DX, Git branching and merge strategy, automated CI/CD pipelines, metadata governance, static code analysis, automated test execution, and scratch org and sandbox lifecycle management.
- Defines and enforces release management for the platform, including environment strategy, deployment automation, rollback procedures, release documentation, and the separation of duties controls required of a regulated financial institution.
- Performs and approves design and code reviews for all internal and vendor delivered work, gating promotion to higher environments on adherence to coding standards, test coverage thresholds, security requirements, and performance criteria.
- Designs and governs Salesforce integration architecture in coordination with the Integration team, including API led patterns mediated through the enterprise integration platform, event driven integration, and bulk and streaming data flows to core banking, identity, and data platforms.
- Partners with the Salesforce administration team on the platform's data model and its sharing, visibility, and security architecture, providing technical design input and review on profiles, permission sets, field level security, encryption, and least privilege access design so that solutions remain aligned to Information Security policy.
- Monitors and tunes application level performance across the platform, including Apex execution, query efficiency, governor limit consumption, and integration throughput, and maintains a prioritized technical debt remediation roadmap that this role drives to completion.
- Partners with the Salesforce administration team on org capacity monitoring, including API request volumes, data and file storage consumption, and license utilization, providing technical analysis and remediation options where capacity constraints affect solution design.
- Provides technical leadership for Marketing Cloud development where applicable, including data extensions, AMPscript and Server Side JavaScript, Journey Builder configuration, and Marketing Cloud Connect or API based integration with the core Salesforce org.
- Contributes technical input to platform roadmaps and delivery planning, supplying solution options, effort estimates, and sequencing considerations to product owners, business stakeholders, and Enterprise Architecture.
- Evaluates Salesforce seasonal releases, nCino release upgrades, AppExchange packages, and new platform capabilities, including platform AI features, for technical fit and risk, and presents recommendations through the Bank's architecture governance process.
- Identifies opportunities to eliminate manual effort and automate remediation of recurring issues in order to improve the operational stability, observability, and supportability of the platform.
- Directs the technical work of vendor, contractor, and systems integrator resources on the platform; reviews their deliverables against agreed design and quality standards, validates billed effort against demonstrable output, and escalates gaps in quality or delivery promptly.
- Establishes and maintains the platform's technical documentation baseline, including architecture and sequence diagrams, Architecture Decision Records, integration specifications, operational runbooks, and developer onboarding materials.
- Represents the Salesforce platform in the Enterprise Architecture Committee (EAC) and other governance forums, presenting designs for review and responding to audit, risk, and examination inquiries with supporting evidence.
- Provides licensing, tooling, environment, and effort estimates in support of platform budgeting, capacity forecasting, and vendor engagement scoping.
- Advises the Product team on technical design in and around the nCino Loan Origination System, which is a vendor managed package owned by that team, including supported extension patterns, integration touchpoints, upgrade impact assessment, and regression testing considerations for custom code that interacts with the package.
- Establishes and governs the team's AI assisted development practice, including approved generative AI coding tools such as Claude Code, standards for context engineering and reusable prompts, mandatory human review of AI generated code, and controls for data handling, licensing, and intellectual property under Bank policy.
- 8-10 years of hands on software engineering experience, including a minimum of six years designing and building on the Salesforce Platform in a pro code capacity (Apex, Lightning Web Components, SOQL, and platform APIs).
- 5-7 years experience as technical lead or architect for a Salesforce org of comparable scale and complexity, holding technical design authority and owning code review and engineering standards for a development team.
- Experience eading, mentoring, or supervising a team of software developers, including technical work required.
- Hands on Salesforce DevOps experience: source driven development with Salesforce DX, Git based branching and merge strategy, automated CI/CD pipelines (for example GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Copado, or Gearset), static code analysis, and automated test frameworks.
- Experience delivering Salesforce integrations to enterprise systems of record through an API management or integration platform, including event driven, bulk, and near real time data patterns.
- Demonstrated use of AI assisted development tooling, such as Claude Code or a comparable generative AI coding assistant, in a professional software delivery environment.
- Hands on Salesforce Marketing Cloud development experience, including AMPscript, Server Side JavaScript, SQL activities, data extensions, Journey Builder, and Marketing Cloud APIs or Marketing Cloud Connect.
- Experience in banking, financial services, or another regulated industry, working within formal change management, audit, and information security control frameworks.
- Hands on experience with Financial Services Cloud (FSC) and with nCino, including configuration and pro code extension of the nCino Loan Origination System, and management of nCino release upgrades.
