Workplace Policy Hybrid Job ID 2024-5227 Date posted 04/22/2025The Accountant I is responsible for performing routine accounting tasks, including preparing reconciliations, analyzing discrepancies, and processing journal entries. This role coordinates with departments to resolve outstanding items and ensures compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements. The position requires maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with audits, and escalating issues as needed. Participation in ongoing training and adherence to AML/BSA guidelines are required.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
Prepares account reconciliations, identifies outstanding items outside of policy, and processes necessary corrections through journal entries.
Analyzes discrepancies, researches reports, and applies judgment to recommend and implement appropriate resolutions.
Coordinates with departments to distribute reconciliations and ensures timely resolution of outstanding items.
Maintains accurate and complete documentation to support reconciliations, journal entries, and adjustments.
Monitors and escalates discrepancies that exceed policy-defined thresholds to appropriate personnel.
Ensures compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements when preparing journal entries.
Assists with audits and regulatory examinations by providing necessary documentation and responding to inquiries.
Participates in required training to stay current on company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
- 2-4 years of accounting, bank operations or return items experience.
Ability to perform general accounting procedures.
Excellent understanding of debits and credits.
Good Math skills.
Strong analytical skills.
Knowledge and understanding of the appropriate technology related to the job function.
Good communication skills.
