Overview:

The Asset Recovery Officer-Senior is responsible for the resolution of problem loans, management of litigation relating to collection matters, and management and disposition of OREO portfolio in order to minimize losses.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes loans and determines the most effective method for maximizing financial recovery.
  • Collect, prepare, and analyze business and personal financial statements to administer a turnaround solution or exit strategy of complex credit relationships.
  • Assess the credit quality of a relationship to determine the overall performance and associated risk and make recommendations for grading, accrual status, or loss recognition.
  • Negotiates with debtors or their representative and other creditors to secure appropriate workout arrangements.
  • Establishes and implements repayment plans, monitors compliance with the plan.
  • Negotiates settlements.
  • Inspects, evaluates, protects and disposes of collateral.
  • Pursues post judgment collection.
  • Provides advice and assistance to lending personnel regarding expedient identification and evaluation of deteriorating loan situations in order to recognize problem loans early and minimize losses.
  • Assigns matters to legal counsel providing supporting documentation and information.
  • Responds to and signs off on requests for production, interrogatories and affidavits.
  • Attends hearings, depositions, trials and foreclosures sales.
  • Monitors litigation and reviews/approves legal bills.
  • Recommends loans for charge-off or non-accrual.
  • Directs loan operations on processing payments.
  • Prepares and disseminates information on the status of matters being handled.
  • Communicates regularly with senior management.
  • Coordinate with legal, audit, and credit/loan policy departments, as necessary, to ensure compliance of negotiated workout agreements.
  • Prepare and present loan portfolio status updates and reports as required.
  • May act as a team lead and mentor. May orient, train or review the work of lower level workout specialists.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications:
  • 5-7 years of Lending, Asset Recovery or Loan Workout experience.
  • 5-7 years of loan underwriting and documentation experience.
  • Well-developed knowledge of Commercial, Real Estate and Consumer lending credit structure and loan policy.
  • Strong credit analytical skills.
  • Formal credit training preferred.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Strong financial analysis skills.
  • Experienced at interacting with clients, bank counsel, third party service providers.
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to work effectively under adverse conditions.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills to include both verbal and written skills.
  • Proficiency with both Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Highly motivated, self-driven individual who can think strategically, operate independently and take accountability for the function.
  • Ability to motivate, influence and collaborate with others both internally and externally.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, or related field
  • Paralegal certification preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and/or relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
