This role involves analyzing business processes, developing continuity strategies, and managing related records. Key responsibilities include conducting Business Impact Assessments, coordinating disaster recovery tests, and facilitating tabletop exercises. The position requires collaboration with various departments to develop, update, and maintain business continuity plans.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive Business Impact Assessments (BIA) to identify critical business processes and assess the potential impact of various disruption scenarios.
Use BIA findings to prioritize recovery efforts, ensuring that the most critical processes are restored first.
Develop and document effective temporary workarounds for critical business processes to ensure continuity during disruptions.
Identify and analyze single points of failure in business processes, systems, and infrastructure, and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to implement risk mitigation strategies.
Ensure that all defined workarounds and mitigation strategies are aligned with the overall business continuity plan and are regularly tested for effectiveness.
Plan, coordinate, and execute disaster recovery tests to validate the effectiveness of recovery plans and procedures across the organization.
Organize and facilitate tabletop exercises to simulate potential disaster scenarios and evaluate the organization's readiness.
Document the results of disaster recovery tests and tabletop exercises, identify gaps or areas for improvement, and work with teams to address these issues.
Work closely with lines of business and plan owners to develop and maintain comprehensive business continuity plans.
Ensure that business continuity plans are aligned with organizational objectives and updated regularly to reflect changes in business processes, technology, or risk landscapes.
Provide guidance and support to plan owners in the creation and maintenance of their continuity plans, ensuring they meet the organization's standards and requirements.
Collaborate with key stakeholders during tabletop exercises to ensure a comprehensive and cross-functional approach to continuity planning.
Utilize systems of record to track and oversee key business continuity artifacts, including BIAs, plans, and test results.
Ensure that all relevant documents and plans are stored, organized, and easily accessible within the system of record.
Monitor the status of continuity plans and related artifacts, providing regular updates to stakeholders and ensuring compliance with organizational policies.
Generate detailed reports on all aspects of business continuity planning, including BIA results, identified risks, mitigation strategies, and test outcomes.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of business continuity plans, procedures, workarounds, and test results.
Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on the status of the business continuity program, highlighting key risks, progress, and areas requiring attention.
- 2-4 years of experience in business continuity planning, disaster recovery, risk management, or a related field.
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to conduct thorough impact assessments, identify potential risks, and develop effective mitigation strategies.
Experience working with various departments and plan owners to develop and maintain comprehensive business continuity plans.
Familiarity with systems used to track and oversee business continuity artifacts.
Knowledge of industry standards and best practices in business continuity and disaster recovery, such as ISO 22301 or NIST.
Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication and documentation skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
Detail-oriented and highly organized, with a focus on accurate documentation and thorough analysis.
Proactive and self-motivated, with a strong commitment to improving organizational resilience and continuity.
Collaborative and able to work effectively with colleagues at all levels of the organization, demonstrating strong teamwork without direct supervision.
Adaptable and able to thrive in a dynamic environment, responding quickly to emerging threats and challenges.
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Risk Management, or a related field is preferred.
