Overview:

The Mortgage Banker is responsible for mortgage loan production throughout the assigned market. The primary source of business is self-sourced mortgage business. Acts as an advisor to potential and existing mortgage customers. Maximize production with referrals from local builders, real estate agents, contractors, affinity partners and past clients. Ensure an exceptional customer experience is maintained with all potential and existing customers. Ensure all aspects of mortgage applications are in compliance with all applicable state and Federal laws, regulations and bank policies and procedures.

What You'll Do:

  • Consistently meets and exceeds individual and/or team sales goals, including but not limited to deposit, loans and other, as applicable.

  • Increase conforming loan applications through marketing and generating referrals from centers of influence, previous customers and client referrals.

  • Introduce their self-sourced customers to other lines of business within the bank.

  • Develop business outside of retail branch network through real estate agents, homebuilders, relocation services, cold calling, etc.

  • Recommends loan solutions in accordance with lending guidelines and clients' requirements.

  • Collects and analyzes customer financial information for multifaceted and/or complex borrowers.

  • Develops and prepares loan solutions and refers products and services; reviews documentation to ensure compliance. Manages customer pipeline for efficiency.

  • Ensures compliance with appropriate bank policies and regulatory guidelines, including Fair Lending.
  • Ensures all required compliance training is completed on time by direct reports.
  • Meets the requirements of the S.A.F.E. Act and expected to follow procedures including notifying Human Resources of any changes in current status.

Qualifications:
  • 2-4 years mortgage sales experience required.
  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Strategic Sales Planning: Knowledge of sales principles, processes, techniques and tools; ability to develop sales plans that are future-oriented, support business strategy and reflect understanding of emerging, as well as existing, opportunities and markets.
  • Mortgage Products: Knowledge of and ability to utilize residential mortgage instruments and apply them to specific situations.
  • Sales Tasks And Activities: Knowledge of and the ability to sell an organization's products and services.
  • Selling: Applies knowledge of banking products and services to meet customer needs and enable them to achieve their financial goals. Identifies prospecting approaches to identify potential customers and create opportunities to sell financial solutions and ideas to customers.
  • Customer Experience Management: Implements the strategies and techniques used to ensure that customers have a positive experience with the organization and its products and services at every touch point.

Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance or a related field preferred, but not required.
  • An equivalent combination of education and/or relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
