This includes, but is not limited to, the research, identification and potential implementation of new programs and technologies to support the growth, maturation, and effectiveness of the Bank’s Enterprise Risk Program. This will require collaboration with the various ERM managers, the 1LOD Risk colleagues, Leaders within the various business units & Corporate Functions, and the Chief Enterprise Risk Executive. Additionally, this role will oversee the Bank’s Governance, Risk and Compliance solution, and be responsible for researching and implementing additional or new modules within the solution which may complement the Bank’s Risk Program.
This role will be expected to communicate with the Bank’s regulators, specifically on the progress of action plans related to issues identified, as well as providing project updates on various initiatives the Bank has undertaken. As a primary point of contact for the Bank’s Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) solution, this role will be responsible for Regulatory Change Management, Policy Management, and Enterprise Issues Management. The Regulatory Change Management function is supported by the Bank’s GRC solution; however, communication and risk assessment follow up are critical elements related to this role. TheG&SI officer will partner with key internal stakeholders, including all LOBs and Corporate Functions to collect, risk rank, and maintain up to date the library of Bank Policies. When applicable, the G&SI officer will escalate any policy related issues to Senior and Executive management, senior operating committees, and the Board of Directors.
This role will be responsible for the oversight of the Enterprise Issue Management Program and, partnering with issue sources and issue management coordinators, ensuring that all issues are addressed in a timely manner with all action plans having the proper artifacts to evidence implementation. This includes thematic analysis of issues and review and challenge to ensure consistency of issues logged into the GRC system. In addition to providing oversight, this role will be reporting updates, delays, extensions or issues related to the Enterprise Issue Management Program and provide progress reports related to ERM projects and initiatives to Senior Management, Executive Management and Board of Directors.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for day-to-day oversight, management, and execution of the Bank’s Enterprise GRC Solution. This includes research and potential implementation of additional modules that may strengthen and mature the Bank’s risk program, supporting internal and external audits and examinations by providing necessary documentation and responding to any findings related to the risk management program.
- Independent oversight of all initiatives and projects being undertaken within the ERM group. Oversight responsibilities include working with ERM stakeholders, vendors and project managers to ensure project is implemented timely and in line with the requirements established prior to engagement.
- Oversee the implementation and delivery of the GRC modules used to support the Bank’s Risk Program.
- Provides oversight over the issues management program as well as the related GRC tool to ensure issue owners are addressing outstanding issues sufficiently, properly and in a timely manner. Identifies weakness areas and provides training on issues management program as needed
- Works with the ERM management team to ensure all policies are risk assessed, updated and approvals are received in a timely manner from management and board committees.
- Explore and assess any projects and technology implementation to strengthen and mature the Bank’s ERM program
- Experience with the Archer GRC module and an interest in helping the institution potentially expand usage of the Archer platform and adoption of additional modules, in coordination with IT, to support the bank’s risk function.
- Escalate concerns related to project execution to senior and executive leadership in a timely manner in coordination with key project stakeholders; take the initiative to resolve project issues in a self-sufficient manner.
- Ensure the proper documentation has been collected to demonstrate effective regulatory change management and evidence organizational compliance with laws and regulations.
- Identify synergies within Risk Management & Compliance programs that intersect with regulatory change projects, including business change, third party risk management, quality assurance, and risk assessment; develop and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.
- Monitors regulatory affairs and helps the appropriate stakeholders ensure the Institution and the individual risk programs are keeping abreast of regulatory changes and implementing proper controls when necessary.
- Monitors Issue management module to perform and report thematic and root cause analysis, and properly escalates any delayed or slipped issues to Executive Management and/or the Board of Directors.
- Creates Issues Management training programs and partners with HR to ensure training is assigned and completed by applicable employees.
- 5-7 years experience working with client facing LOB's.
- 5-7 years experience in Risk & Compliance related fields.
- Managerial and leadership experience required.
- Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment including proficiency in Word and Excel.
- High reasoning skills including the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to set clear and actionable expectations; stimulate learning, growth, and performance improvement in others; empower others to contribute at increasingly higher levels; and provide candid and beneficial feedback to team members.
- Ability to apply critical thinking to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions or approaches to problems.
- Ability to read, comprehend, analyze, and interpret legal documents, governmental regulations, and professional publications, especially guidance issued by regulatory authorities on the issues of BSA/AML.
- Ability to effectively present information to and respond to inquiries from senior management, attorneys, vendors, government agents, various bank departments, and the general public.
- Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
- Ability to speak and write clearly in order to effectively convey information so that others understand and as appropriate for the needs of the audience.
- Ability to provide direct supervision to subordinate staff members.
- PMP certification is a plus.
- Bachelor's Degreee in Business, Finance, or related field preferred.
